As the Ikeja Super League heats up, Ace Mariners FC continues to make bold moves off the pitch. This time, by advancing the growth pathway of its Academy players. The club has officially launched the next phase of its player development program, marking a strategic shift toward preparing its young talents for elite-level football.
A Clear Vision for Growth
At the heart of Ace Mariners’ mission is long-term player development. The new phase is designed to deepen the technical, tactical, and psychological growth of Academy players aged 13 to 19.
“We’re not just building footballers. We’re shaping future professionals on and off the pitch,” said the Academy Head Coach.
This next stage builds upon foundational skills, now focusing on more intensive and structured training that aligns with global best practices.

Focus Areas of the New Phase
- Tactical Intelligence:
Players will be trained in reading the game, positioning, and advanced team dynamics. - Physical Development:
Customized strength, agility, and endurance programs are being introduced for age-appropriate athletic conditioning. - Mental Toughness:
Sessions on leadership, emotional control, and decision-making under pressure will be a key feature of the curriculum. - Match Exposure:
Academy players will increasingly feature in friendlies, showcases, and selected league games to build confidence and match IQ.

⚽ Why It Matters
This structured approach not only enhances individual performance but also ensures that Academy talents are equipped to transition into the club’s senior team and even professional clubs beyond the Ikeja Super League. It’s a direct investment into the future of Nigerian football.
“Our vision is to create a full pipeline from grassroots discovery to professional readiness. Every drill, every session, every game is part of that journey,” added the club’s General Manager.

The Ace Mariners’ Model
Ace Mariners FC stands out in Lagos not only for its results but for its philosophy: develop, promote and prepare. With strong emphasis on discipline, education, and competitive excellence, the Academy is becoming a breeding ground for serious talent.

What’s Next?
The club is planning talent assessments, guest coaching sessions, and strategic partnerships to expose players to scouting opportunities at national and international levels.
With this new phase, Ace Mariners FC is doubling down on its promise to shape the next generation of football stars, ready to compete, lead and win.
